Domain and email bought without technical guidance
A low-cost “domain + email” offer and blocked messages
A client bought a domain name and a professional email plan on their own from a company offering domain registration, web hosting and email services. They had not subscribed to any web hosting with this company: only the domain and the email service.
After setting up their professional addresses, they noticed that some sent emails were not reaching their recipients. They then asked Agence Web POP to find the cause of the problem.
Our investigation revealed a problem linked to the IP address used by the provider's email infrastructure: this IP had a history associated with spam and was listed on blocklists used by some filtering systems. This could cause messages sent from the client's mailboxes to be rejected or filtered.
- What was at fault: the reputation of the email sending service's IP, not the mere fact of having bought the domain name. The client had not bought an IP address or web hosting; the IP was used by the email service they had subscribed to.
- Consequences for the client: disrupted business communication and a longer search for a solution than expected.
- Consequences for our agency: extra diagnostic and coordination work, outside the normal website setup.

Will my domain name stay in my name?
Yes, the legitimate owner must be clearly identified. The administrative and technical arrangements are defined with you before registration or transfer.
Can you transfer my domain to another registrar?

Can you recover an expired domain name?
Sometimes. The options vary depending on its extension, status and expiry date. Restoration may involve extra fees and is not guaranteed.
Is a cheap domain name necessarily risky?
No. Price alone does not tell you the quality of a registrar. You need to look at renewal conditions, access management, support and compatibility with the services you need.
Why do my professional emails go to spam or fail to be delivered?
Possible causes include a poor reputation of the sending IP address or of the domain, incorrect SPF/DKIM/DMARC settings and the policies of the receiving servers. A diagnosis is needed; buying the domain is not, on its own, the cause of the problem.
Should I buy email from the same provider as the domain?
No. Domain, hosting and email can be provided separately. What matters most is that they are configured correctly and that you can manage them.
Do you handle annual renewals?
